Greetings, friends!
Those of you who have subscribed to my website ReyCD PHOTOS and have been interacting with my posts, will see other new things aside from the posts I have made.

Summer came and went. and honestly, I would have loved to have more adventures but my status keeps me from leaving the state on my own or take public transportation,

Yet, I did a few things within Connecticut that made me feel better about my photography endeavors.

First, I had a Film Noir session with an amazing model named Emma Brin. We met in Collinsville and we did our session with props while taking advantage of the old buildings, the brick wall and the bridge. We were both so happy that we decided to plan another shoot.

My Summer Promo Package landed only two clients. However, these shoots are ging to take place in September and October. As I said in the package, the promo was alive FOR bookings only until August 24. Both clients booked their shoots during July and August, so it falls within my guidelines.

My biggest problem as a still emerging photographer in Connecticut is how little people know about me and my work ethics, and how little promotion I get from my friends. To give you an example, ONLy one of the two shoots I am going to be working on this month came because of a friend. My good friend Kim Howe made A COMMENT on someone’s post looking for a photographer, and I will be developing that shoot this month,

As I announced, I did cover the ConnectiCon 2026, made new friends and possible collabs, and involved my friend Mason in the process. The bad note about it is that, after a few announcements, a lot artists are talking about boycotting the event for 2027.

I also photographed the Banana Ball games at Dunkin’ Park (as I had announced I would do). It was a great experience, and I got to work alongside one of the graduates of my school and other great photographers.

Trying to do business as a newcomer is a difficult task, but I believe those of you who receive this newsletter make it easier, better and less stressful.

• Above, you see the announcement of a new Fall Special Portrait Package. The price of the portrait packages has dropped to $200 for 90 minutes. The idea is to do several quick shoots catering to different clients in a short period of time. The banner shows all the perks you will get if you book a session, so I am asking my faithful readers to spread the word about it by either sharing the newsletter or asking me for the banner so I can share it with you. Being relatively new in Connecticut in this line of business, I need some true word of mouth to get booked and make things happen.

• The Banana Ball was a great experience because I got to work alongside amazing established photographers and some emerging ones.

• I photographed a Quinceanera, who was a student at my school. Her father has several friends who are my friends, and we also share Cuban heritage. This made it easier for me, but it was still hard. I cherish it as an experience to be able to compartmentalize and separate my teacher duties with my photography endeavors. There were several students in the party, some of them I I knew I was going to be teaching this school year. So it was challenging in many ways.

• Summer gave me the chance to start selling some of my photographs at a store located in New Milford, which holds the gazebo portrayed in Gilmore Girls. Melissa Martins, was kind enough to let me become part of the team, and I am honored to have my art displayed in her store, which bears the name of &Company on Bank.

• Although I wanted to do a CT Photo Adventure this summer, several external factors kept me from fully embracing it. However, I did travel some, and I am willing to show some of these pictures in an upcoming post.

• The good news about photographing students happened last June, when I took the picture of Jack McDougall and Evan Judenis. The photo made it to the CIAC social media, and I was honored to print and frame a photo for each one of them and another one for the school. It was an emotional moment for me as a teacher, as a baseball fan and historian, and as a photographer.

• Last month, I started my workshops at the Noah Webster Library. I am assessing patrons’ photos, and showing them how they can make them better, or why their photos are great. It was a great start, and I do hope some of you can try to join if you have the chance. I am inviting you here. There are only two installments left.
