Greetings, friends!
Those of you who have subscribed to my website ReyCD PHOTOS and have been interacting with my posts, will see other new things aside from the posts I have made.

Winter is here, and I have been trying to get busy on several fronts doing a couple of sessions and trying to get some paid gigs in the middle.

Unlike I expected, my end of the year promo got some interest from strangers and acquaintances. However, recommendations from friends who spread the word for me were not met with a lot of interest, probably because the thought was that I was only going to be shooting the promo during those days. In reality, two bookings that I am working on are scheduled for January, so there is still time for you (or your friends) to book your session before January 5 (the shoot can take place any time before or after that).

• With winter and the snow came new opportunities to explore creative portraiture. One session has already been taken care of, while the other is being worked on for this week or the first weekend after the break.

• BOLD DECISION: I am going on a full system change. No, I am NOT leaving Canon, I am just jumping into the full migration from EF to RF lenses. For that, my three main EF lenses (the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2, the Tamron 70-210mm f/4 Di VC USD, and the SIGMA 150-500mm f/5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM) are all being sold. The goal is to buy only two (feels like a downgrade but it isn’t, my back and shoulders will appreciate it later): the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.8 IS STM and the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 IS USM. The move will imply me losing the 85mm distance altogether, the 210mm and f/4 aperture, plus the powerful 500mm zoom of the SIGMA, but again, it is a strategy more than anything aiming to help me shoot at a faster rate during baseball games or for birds. So, if anyone knows of people interested in buying EF grade lenses, put them in touch with me.

• PRINTS: As part of my promotion spree, I have started printing some photos myself. Owning a photo printer for three years now, I have decided to give it a try on photographs, and the results have been very good.

• Recommended reads: I have acquired a volume of Camera Lucida, by French author Roland Barthes. I recommend that read to anyone interested in photography, the same way I recommend Susan Sontag’s On Photography.
