Greetings, friends!
Those of you who have subscribed to my website ReyCD PHOTOS and have been interacting with my posts, will see other new things aside from the posts I have made.
The months of July and August were pretty eventful for me and for the community I live in. This is the third installment of my Newsletter, and I appreciate those who have subscribed to it by subscribing to my website.
It would help me a lot if you all spread the word about my work and encourage people to subscribe and read my work. As someone who is looking for possible photography gigs in a competitive market as Connecticut, I am way behind many photographers in terms of promotion and reputation.
Those people I have worked with have promoted me with others. However, growth in this field comes not only from sheer determination and effort, but also from promotion, recommendation and word of mouth.
As I said before, I had an eventful summer, with a couple of gigs (one paid, one donated to my school), and several events I participated in (For more on that, read below).
I am back to teaching now, but I will continue to take photos, get involved in other projects through weekends, and of course delivering this Newsletter to you all.

• The ConnectiCon 2025 was without question a first-time experience for me. Countless cosplayers attended the event, and I had the opportunity to meet new people and to photograph them while creating connections for possible future collaborations. I intend to participate in the event in 2026 as well.

• The opportunity to shoot the baby shower of Jennifher Ortiz and Ryan Shaffer was an amazing experience, which at the same time, led to some networking and meeting people who could become potential clients in the future.

• After over a year of making a donation to a school event, I finally carried out the family shoot with the winner of the auction. Coincidentally, her son was my student during my first year of teaching, and seeing him again, while meeting his family was a very warm experience. Out of privacy agreements, I am keeping their identity and the photos I took private.

• After months of meeting and organizing, the Hartford Yard Goats carried out the Cuban Heritage Night. Even though I had very little opportunity to photograph during the game (as I was working in the Spanish booth with my friend and colleague Yasel Porto), I was on the field for the duration of the pre-game ceremony, and photographing it was special not only for the photos, but also for the tribute to my country. Good news and bad news: The Cuban Night will not be held in 2026 (as the Yard Goats alternate hispanic Nights sauf the Puerto Rican Night), but I will have full season credentials for 2026 as well, and will be able to cover more games.

• The Roberto Clemente celebration as the Puerto Rican Heritage Night saw a lot of Clemente shirts at Dunkin’ Park. It was a privilege again to work alongside the great people at the Yard Goats, and to be able to photograph such an amazing story.

• The Los Amigos Softball League turned granted the Roberto Clemente Award to my friend Karel Garcia, and I had the privilege of both writing his bio for the announcement, and photographing the emotional moment.

• The ConnecticutSlam was held on Sunday August 17. I was hesitant to participate at first, but then joined in and it was worth every second, Meeting with other photographers and having the chance to work with amazing models was one of the highlights of my summer. Some of them may work with me in upcoming projects.

• If you have an interest in documentary photography and haven’t signed up for the 24HourProject yet, I recommend that you do. I will be an ambassador of the project for Connecticut, and the cause this year will be helping Doctors Without Borders support children in conflict zones. I was very fortunate that the project decided to use my piece of writing from June into their blog, entitling it From Cuba to Connecticut, and listing it as a testimony.

• Two days ago, I managed to get my first TFP (Time for photos) session of the summer (ironically, I managed to that once my summer vacation was over, but that’s okay). It was a young woman I met during the Connecticut Slam, and we decided to do a creative shoot. There are more projects coming along with that model, so stay tuned for more!

• The CT Hispanic Watch has been pretty much active this summer as well, so I would suggest anyone reading this going on Instagram of Facebook and typing the hashtag #CTHispanicWatch for more on this matter. Highlighting the positive impact of the Hispanic community in Connecticut was the reason behind this project, and I would love for all of you to support it and help me find other people who seem to be in the shadows but are doing their best to make Connecticut a better place.

• Apart from the 24HourProject, there are other events taking place in September and October that I intend to participate in, and that I will post about both in the blog and tell you all about them here.

• DO NOT FORGET to support my page by recommending to people and make sure they subscribe to it so they both get notified when I post and receive the newsletter. I rely on all of you to help get new clients and leads, and anything that you can do to help me grow will be much appreciated.
